Darnell is having another of her NBUS challenges, a great incentive to get out those "just had to have" but never used stuff I have in my stash. The optional theme is to use coloured pencils on kraft, something I thought was only worth doing if you had good artists pencils, but I gave it a try with cheapies and made 2 cards and a mini set with very simple colouring . . . . and I think they came out ok : )
The first is a one layer card, something I very rarely do, using my NBUS Hero Arts Antique Background stamp.
Cardstock - kraft
Stamp - Hero Arts Antique Background
Ink - Ranger Tim Holtz Walnut Stain distress ink
Tools - Fiskars compact stamp press
Other - Micador Colourush white and brown pencils, white sentiment sticker
Challenges:
djkardcreations NBUS#8 - Never Before Used Schtuff
Allsorts Challenge Week 398 - Wings on Things
The Artistic Stamper January Challenge - Anything Goes
Penny Black and More January Challenge - Anything Goes
Inky Chicks Challenge 77 - Anything Goes
Thanks for looking, comments welcome.

Beautiful. Great stamp and the white butterflies are very striking. Hugz
ReplyDeleteReally lovely creation, great stamp and lovely colouring of the butterflies.
ReplyDeleteSaw this on Darnells blog this morning and thought, well although I have lots of NBUS stuff I don't have any pencils.
Thank you for joining our 'Wings on Things' challenge this week at Allsorts.

Great card, Jenny. The butterflies turned out beautifully with your cheapy coloured pencils. No one would ever know that you haven't used expensive ones. xx
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty, particularly like the white. I don't have any of those expensive pencils either, perhaps I should give it a try with some cheapies.
ReplyDeleteLove your butterfly card. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card, loving the butterflies!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining us at Penny Black and More!
Go you, Jenny! I used my cheapo set on my card, too, and was surprised how well they did. I love how you used your NBUS stamp and made your butterflies white. The tiny sediment looks great, too, although the card would have looked fabulous even without that! Thank you so much for playing in my NBUS Challenge!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteLove your butterflies with the script background! (I'm with you on the one-layer cards!). Beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteThis card turned out beautifully! I just have a cheapy set of pencils, too. In fact, the set is so small, it didn't even come with a white pencil! I so love the look of the white, I may have to look for just a white pencil or another set that includes the white. Thanks so much for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful design! I really like the pages of a reflection of the text. Butterflies add so much lightness to the card. Amazing card

Love the butterflies on the kraft card. Perfect for Darnell's challenge. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteOh this is gorgeous! Love the butterflies on the kraft!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coloring, Jenny. Love the pop of white on the butterflies wings.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Love this entire card!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. I love those white butterflies.
ReplyDeleteLove your monochromatic card! This is what I want to try out next: Just using white for coloring on kraft! Such a fabulous look!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny, Just saw your lovely kraft beautiflies over at Darnell's, (along with your other wonderful entries). You've achieved such a soft look with the script stamping and then the pencil work on these great butterflies. I didn't get my card finished before the deadline, but I had a lot of blending difficulties. So I'm really admiring the quality of the work you've done on this pretty card! I've been MIA for a while here at your blog, so Happy New Year, and it's nice to see that you've still been doing such gorgeous cards! TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteGorgeous ! Thank you for joining in The Artistic Stamper Creative Challenge this month xx
